Presidential First Pitches

President George W. Bush threw out the first pitch at tonight’s World Series game.  The crowd went absolutely wild when he and his father, President George H.W. Bush were announced.  It’s funny, presidential approval ratings usually go up after they leave office.  It usually takes some years for the ratings to really climb up.  President George W. Bush’s ratings, however, have risen much faster than presidents in the past.  I guess a good dose of B.O. has given the country some perspective.  For a perfect example of the perspective we’ve gained, take a look at two presidential first pitches from this year.  Which one would you rather as your leader of the free world.

Personally, I’m rollin on Dubs, if you catch me.

Cheers!

  1. Damn – Obama couldn’t even get it near the strike zone. And then the White Sox hat…

    What a weinker…

  2. Dubby Dubs always runs it up there. There was some mustard on that one!

  3. There is no BO wearing a Sox hat allowed in baseball!

Just one of those well understood, unwritten rules that make a lot of sense!

    That’s what makes it great!

  4. The audio on the Obama vid sounds altered.

  5. That it does… try to focus on the beauty of the pitch….

  6. I have to say, I was in the stadium during the Nationals first pitch and from where I sat…, the Nats fans were already frustrated that the stadium was overrun with Phillies fans that seeing the President place a Sox hat on his head as he was to throw was a bit frustrating to Nats. (But you never really know the intentions of the overwhelming boos.) However if you look at the history of the Pres throwing first pitch for the local team, it was not about the local team itself but rather the opening of the whole baseball season. So with that perspective I lightened up about the Sax hat….

The music on the clip of Bush was beautiful and brought a sense of beauty and honor/ respect to them as they entered the field. It was a nice throw too
